Raga guide 3

King Nanyadeva of Mithila (1097-1147) wrote that the variety of Ragas is infnite, and their individual features are hard to put into words. He wrote : "Just as the sweetness of sugar, treacle and candy cannot be separately described, but must be experienced for oneself."

Dear Guptaji,
I think you should stick to traditional classification of ragas : morning, afternoon, evening night ragas etc & then take each : ie morning ragas according to Thats : Bhairav, Bilawal etc & further break them.. You can then further simplfy understanding of ragas by playing a film song based on raga, followed by vocal/instrumental as they used to do in Sangit Sarita AIR 30 yrs back.. i used to listen it daily at 7 30 am on MW.

This is only a suggestion so that new listeners unfamiliar with ragas may benefit.
Pl continue your excellent work & enthrall us.
Heartfelt thanks & all the best in LIFE !
Dr. Madhav Deshmukh
